TeleICU Hub @ Mysore Medical College

Mysore TeleICU hub connects rural ICUs to specialist care

Feb 2nd 2002. Today we visited the Mysore Medical College, met with Dr. Dinesh Dean of the college to discuss the creation of a TeleICU hub at the KR Hospital, which is affiliated to the Mysore Medical College.

The idea of the TeleICU is to address the acute shortage of ICU intensivists in smaller taluka government hospitals with the help of specialists at hospitals and medical colleges perhaps in larger cities like Mysore. Once we setup a TeleICU hub at the medical college hospital such as the Mysore Medical College(MMC), an intensivists at MMC will be able to monitor  the patients at a distant hospital through our TeleICU software system built on top of CARE Platform.

The dean and his team were keen to take up the TeleICU hub at Mysore Medical College to be housed at the KR Hospital, named after the famous king of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. They felt that their assistance will help the surrounding taluka hospitals and also prevent large number of people rushing to Mysore during a Covid spike and hence inundating the hospital.

The 10BedICU TeleICU allows for specialists from MMC to help but yet do this over the online TeleICU software system, that made it possible for all the patient's clinical details, 5-para monitor readings and discussions with the local doctor could all be conducted online. They were ready to offer space for the TeleICU hub as well as specialists from KR Hospital.
